Celebrating success with IMC PKKPE JV
July 8, 2022We are proud to announce that last night IMC PKKPEJV were nominated for two NAIDOC awards and won the award for Empowering Generational Change at Eliwana. They were also nominated, but unsuccessful for the Training Award.
IMC PKKPE JV, led by Brendon Rainham, designed and implemented an entry-level pre-employment training program to introduce indigenous candidates into the resource sector. The program aims to provide opportunities to Indigenous Australian candidates, with no mining or machine experience, that endures benefit to the local communities in which we operate and provide them with sustainable opportunities. Post the successful placement of the trainee they will then be supported with ongoing training, support and mentoring by the onsite Supervisors and Project Manager.
At the completion of the program, the Trainee will receive a Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations (RII30120) and Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30820). Earlier this year, IMC PKKPE JV successfully attracted Jeremy Sammy, a traditional owner and PKKP man. They have supported him onsite and he has successfully integrated into the team and into FIFO.
Added to their nomination, IMC PKKPE JV have also recently implemented a trainee fitter position at Eliwana. This position also aims to introduce indigenous candidates into the Mining Industry and support them through a trade qualification. At the completion of their training, the aim will be for the individual to be a qualified fitter. IMC PKKPE JV have recently recruited Zac Smith, a highly motivated and determined employee for this position.
We congratulating Brendon Rainham and acknowledge the work IMC PKKPE JV does on all the current and future work towards Empowering Generational Change.
