PKKPE Finalist for KDCCI 2022 Business Excellence Awards

The annual Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KDCCI) Business Excellence Awards celebrates the achievements, innovation and enterprising spirit of small to medium sized businesses across the City of Karratha.
The Awards recognise the importance of a sustainable business community that is vibrant, robust and supports the creation of jobs and business opportunity.
2022 Finalists in the Best Aboriginal Business category – PKKP Enterprises Ltd was established in 2019 to drive economic stability, employment, training, and business opportunities for the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura people. Their lands and waters cover 10,888 square kilometres of the Pilbara between Onslow and Tom Price.
The IMC PKKPE JV Joint Venture Partnership has also been selected in two categories – Best Aboriginal Business and Best New/ Start Up Business.
IMC (Iron Mine Contracting) and PKKP Enterprises Ltd partnered together in November 2020 to create the IMC PKKPE Joint Venture, to develop employment and procurement opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the Pilbara.
The IMC PKKPE JV is 50% indigenous owned between IMC’s partnering arm, Indigenous Partnerships Australia (IPA) and PKKP Enterprises Ltd (the commercial arm of PKKP Aboriginal Corporation).
The JV supplies mining, civil, crushing and screening services to mining companies operating in the Pilbara. The landmark project for the JV is FMG’s Eliwana mine site, 96km west-northwest of Tom Price.
The JV partnership focuses on building Aboriginal engagement through employment and procurement opportunities, particularly for the PKKP community.
Winners will be announced at the Awards Night to be held on Saturday October 29th at the Red Earth Arts Precinct, Karratha WA.
