VTEC Graduation Ceremony: A New Chapter Begins
August 10, 2023PERTH – Today marks a monumental day for the PKKP Enterprises Ltd and the wider PKKP community, as we celebrate the graduation of our newest batch of graduates from the Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC) program.
Initiated by Fortescue Metals Group, the VTEC program has long been the beacon of hope and opportunity for Aboriginal people to start to, channel their potential, and secure solid career pathways in the workforce. Fortescue’s unwavering commitment to fostering sustainable career pathways has already seen members of our community soar to great heights, with every VTEC graduate having a guaranteed job, post-training.
The Flying Emu Program run by Momentum Business, is an integral part of this journey, and has shown remarkable dedication in sourcing candidates for FMG’s VTEC in Perth. Each tour conducted by the Flying Emu ingrains Fortescue Values into the participants, imparting them with an intricate understanding of what it takes to thrive in the Mining & Resource industry. The partnership between PKKP Enterprises Ltd and the Momentum Business’s Flying Emu Program has been an instrumental one, and we at PKKP Enterprises Ltd are immensely grateful for their continued support. “We are super excited to have played a part of this process and wish the candidates all the best!” stated Michelle Kua, Managing Partner of Momentum Business.
This graduation is even more special for PKKP Enterprises Ltd as we see three of our PKKP members – Samantha Taylor, Tony Stewart, and Ronelle Edwards – step into the world, equipped with training, skills, and a pathway to a promising future. The PKKP Aboriginal Corporation, which administers the traditional lands and waters of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people and the Pinikura people, holds great pride in watching their community members succeed and contribute positively to the world.
In the words of Shaun Burgess, General Manager of PKKP Enterprises Ltd, “Today, as you start your career, you carry with you not just a certificate, but the power of knowledge, the strength of practical skills, and the promise of a brighter future. Each one of you has the potential to make a significant difference to your world, and the skills gained through FMG’s VTEC courses will undoubtedly propel you towards success. Once again, congratulations to all the graduates!”
PKKP Enterprises Ltd looks forward to seeing the ripple effect of positive change these graduates will bring to their family, our community and the industries they step into.
